Week 7- Permits and Peanut Butter

November 18, 2019

Hello everyone! This week was so long and crazy!

Tuesday was ROUGH. Our lesson with Scott fell through. We had a Light the World meeting, which was good! (I'll talk more about Light the World in a second) We also had interviews with the Mission President, which was good! Our lesson with Kellan also fell through, which was sad, but we got to do some visits around the Edinburgh ward area, which was great! Until Sister Tunstall almost passed out in someone's house. We had just met them and she said that everything went black and fuzzy and then she asked if we could sit down, but they invited us back, so it's all good! But then Sister Tunstall threw up in the bathroom at our dinner appointment, so we went home for the rest of the night. We called the mission nurse, and she said Sister Tunstall had the flu, even though she had gotten her flu shot.
So we stayed home all night, and I got to clean our gross apartment, which Elders used to live in, and they left it a mess, so there is a lot to clean. But it's okay because our lesson with Dan also fell through. Wednesday we went to three week follow up in Nampa (which, by the way, smells like Peanut Butter all the time because of a factory they have there), even though Sister Tunstall literally had the flu. But she got a priesthood blessing while we were there. We stayed home all night until we went to a youth activity for a mission panel, where they had the cutest missionary bear rice krispie treats! Also, there is this amazing couple in the mission, the Jacobs, I may have talked about them before, but they pick up missionaries from all over the mission and drive them places! They also brought us flowers the other day because they are the most amazing people on earth! We don't have a vase, so we put the flowers in a pitcher, but they are still so beautiful! The Jacobs will have their own mansion in heaven.
Thursday we did contacts in the apartments, and there was a lady who opened the door, and I said "Hi, we're the missionaries from-" and she flipped out and started yelling at us about having a permits? Maybe she thought we were soliciting, but she threatened to call such and such, so we just left. People are so wack. But we also met Cheri, a cute Methodist lady who gave us scarves that she made! We technically started teaching her, because we taught her principles and set up a time to come back, but I'm not sure she is really that interested. We had a lesson with the Bergins, which went well, and we started teaching their son too!
On Friday we had district council, then we had a lesson with Kelly, which went well! She is sweet. Then we had a choir practice for an upcoming zone conference. We also visited the Roots, and we set up a time to come back, so we may start teaching them soon!
Saturday morning we had a lesson with Angela and Trevohn, which went well for the most part. Trevohn is an inactive member, and he goes off on some crazy tangents, but over all, it was good! We did a few visits after that and heart attacked the Kumagai's! We also visited the Hungarian couple, Eugene and Irma. We talked more about the Sabbath Day, then we shared the Light the World stuff with them, which they actually liked!
Sunday was full of meetings and correlations as usual! We got to watch the Face to Face, which was literally so amazing and I loved it so much! I think it will be a really great way to get the young people we teach and their families involved! I'm so excited about it! Also the people we had dinner with, the Fox family, were so sweet! Sister Fox gave us these little oil paintings (and oil paintings are expensive) of our home temples for free! I love her! It was a good week, it just felt so long because I feel like nothing happened, but also a lot happened. It's weird! But it was fun!
SO LIGHT THE WORLD! I'm putting this part in red because it is super important, so I'm sorry if it hurts your eyes. Friends, I am SO EXCITED for Light the World this year! For those who don't know, Light the World is a service initiative the church does every year, and it's all about serving the way Jesus Christ served! We can light the world the way He does when we serve our fellow man! The theme this year is "One by One", focusing on serving people One by One! In December they will have daily service prompts to remind you to serve someone every single day! You can (and should) sign up to receive these texts at Lighttheworld.org! Do it! Right now! Also, there is this SUPER AMAZING video coming out on November 24th, called the Christ Child. THIS VIDEO IS SERIOUSLY AMAZING. It is a beautiful retelling of the nativity scene, and it is incredible! It is so spiritual and realistic. All the dialogue is in Hebrew or something, but it's literally just a raw retelling of it, and it is awesome. Missionaries have already seen it, and I have already seen it, so I can tell you that it is really amazing, and you should watch it, and then invite all of your friends to watch it! Also, if you ask local missionaries, they may have Light the World pass along cards you can give to your friends! Light the World is a great opportunity to share God's love with people, so please get involved, even if you are not a member of our church, it's still an amazing way you can just help people out!

Anyway, that is all!

I glory in plainness; I glory in truth; I glory in my Jesus, for he hath redeemed my soul from hell

Sincerely,
Sister Hatch
