HELLO FRIENDS AND FAMILY
THIS WEEK WAS SOOOO GOOD! Last P-day it was snowing, and we got to make a snowman and I made a beautiful snow angel, and got in a crazy snowball fight! So that was super fun!
On Tuesday we had a lesson with Scott and he said that he was really excited to read the Book of Mormon! We also went to Maggie's house to help her clean her room and she played the Frozen 2 soundtrack while we did! Then later that night we heart attacked the Curtis's and Angela and Trevohn! Then we had a mini correlation meeting with Brother Dye and he told us about auras, and that was a really cool and interesting subject!
By Wednesday all the snow melted. We swung by the Russian family's house and tried talking to them, basically he just yelled at us for 10 minutes about how we waste our time and was trying to tell us what we believe and nothing he was saying about us was even true. Fun fact, people have a lot of misconceptions about our religion because they get taught false things about us, but it's fine. Basically we just told him that it was nice talking to him and that we know God loves him and left, so that was good. He looked shocked when we said that, so I think he felt the love we had. Later that day we visited with Angela, but she was acting a little strange. She told us she was tired and so we left after a few minutes. We hope everything is okay with her, she has been hard to contact this week. That night we went "illuminating" which is the Light the World version of booing, when you take treats to someone's house and doorbell ditch them. We stopped by Heather's house to return a dish to her, and we set up a time to meet with her. We even told her thay her step son (who is on a mission in Phoenix) could skype into a lesson sometime if they wanted that! We also had a lesson with Kim and Betty, and we brought Sister Frederick with us and they were able to connect with her! We talked about coming to church and the importance of the Holy Ghost. We got a call from some Elders that night, and they asked us to be in a parade on Friday!
Thursday was boring, we mostly did weekly planning. But I also had an opportunity to do the Light the World prompt, which was to say a prayer of gratitude for Jesus Christ. As I did that I felt really hopefully and happy, I felt love for my Savior and love for everyone I know! We didn't have a dinner appointment that night, so we asked the Dyes if they would be willing to feed us, and of course they said yes! That night the Sister Training Leaders called and set up a time for us to do exchanges on Tuesday. And this time, I get to stay here and lead the area, so that will be fun!
Friday morning we had district council and then a member took us to lunch because she's the best! Then we tried visiting Angela but she wasn't home, so we tried tracting, which is always interesting. We went to the Dyes (again) to do companionship study. Then we stopped by Sister Cliften's to help her put up some decorations and tell her about "illuminating". Just then, Brother Stringham walked by with two beautiful Great Danes and I just about died! I went over and started petting them and they were so big and cute! They had little bumps on their head, just like our old dog Jet had, and we never knew where it came from, but now I know it's just a Great Dane trait! That night we did the Light the World parade! And it was SO FUN! I have done a lot of parades, and I have never been in a group that didn't march in a block, so it was weird to just be walking around with other missionaries. They also didn't want us to wear dresses or anything, so we got to wear jeans! We just waved at people and handed out Light the World pass along cards, and it was so cute! There was one little boy who was talking to me, so I couldn't hear him so I crouched down to his level, and he said, "I think my mom would like one of those cards" he was so cute! And I got to pet a lot of dogs on the parade route! We also had an awesome float! There was a guy taking pictures that said he would send those to us, so we may not get them for a bit, but I will send them as soon as I can!
Saturday was the Day of Service that the Meridian North Stake was putting on, and it was AMAZING! There were so many things there! They had the Christ Child playing on a loop in the chapel, there were dried food drive bins and (new) underwear and sock drive bins in the foyer, and then in the gym there were a million service opportunities. We made 1,000 blanket ponchos for the homeless! We raised money for 500 turkeys, and there were a ton of nonprofit organizations there with service opportunities, including the Women and Children's Alliance, the Boise Rescue Mission, the International Rescue Committee, the Idaho Foodbank, and tons of others! It was really amazing to see people coming to serve! Our goal for the sock and underwear drive was 5,000 pairs, and we exceeded that goal! It was so great! That took up most of the day, but after that we went to visit David and Connor, but they said they were sick, so instead we ended up crashing a wedding reception, and honestly I don't know how that happened, haha! But we did! Then we went and did visits in Edinburgh ward, and we met this person with two Bull Mastiffs! They were so sweet and cute! And so I got to pet TWO sets and TWO breeds of dogs that are known for being HUGE and I really love that! It made me happy! After that we had the Hobble Creek Christmas party, which was really fun!
And Sunday was business as usual, we went to three sacrament meetings! Angela came to church again, so that was great! That night we watched the Christmas Devotional with Maggie and her family, and that was super awesome! Idaho is great, and I love it here! I miss and love everyone, but I will see you again! Until then, just know I love you and I love the Lord! Let me know how you are all doing!
Alma 34:32
For behold, this life is the time for men to prepare to meet God; yea, behold the day of this life is the day for men to perform their labors.
Love,
Sister Hatch
P.S. so Meridian tried to make this Arizona themed neighborhood called Saguaro Street and they apparently got a bunch of cactus shipped here to have for the landscaping but most of them died, and so I included a picture of one of the sad cactus. I wanted to call the police for the cactus abuse :(
